Artists Statement
This Series of work is about Painting Prayers. My purpose in doing this work is to express with vagueness, the energy and power of prayers and conversations with God. In knowing God intimately and reading his Word, we can have a relationship with him that is filled with his guidance and wisdom. This series of work is much smaller in size than most of my other work as to create an intimacy between the viewer and the work.
Artist Bio
Born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I attended Daemen College and earned a BFA in Painting and a BFA in Graphic Design. While enjoying a career as a Web Designer, my true passion is in the fine arts. I started drawing seriously at the age of 12 and was excited to express a figurative spiritual essence in people's lives. I consider myself a Christian artist and wants my work to glorify God. That theme has always been a part of my work regardless of what medium I use. My work has gone from realistic portraits to more abstract expressionistic displays of spirituality and inner longing. While most of my work has been concentrated in drawing and oil painting, I haverecently started using an airbrush to express the quality I desire in my work. Some of my favorite artists and influences are Alberto Giacometti, Oskar Kokoshka, and Cezanne.
